Chairside Porcelain Onlays (CEREC)
What Is CEREC?
CEREC stands for CEramic REConstruction and is a combination of systems and equipment that can produce restoration treatment devices in the office while you wait. It does its work through an acquisition unit that captures 3-D images of the damaged tooth and a milling unit that can carve restorative pieces from a ceramic block with precision and accuracy.
When Is CEREC Used?
CEREC is the perfect solution when you need a crown, inlay, onlay, or veneer to restore chipped or damaged teeth. The system digitally images the damaged tooth and then produces the needed porcelain restoration right in the office. Treatments that once took multiple appointments over weeks of time can now be done in one appointment!
What Are The Advantages Of CEREC?
The advantages are all about time and money. Rather than taking months to have your smile restored, you can have it restored in one visit to your dentist. Of course, when you have one appointment instead of many appointments, your pocketbook is much happier. Of course there are all of the standard benefits that already come with porcelain restorative devices like veneers and crowns. They are durable and they are easily custom made to match the natural color of your teeth.
